Sanctuary at Haafsville Animal Rescue holds golf tournament

PHOTOS COURTESY OF ALICE LIPE The Sanctuary at Haafsville Animal Rescue, of Breinigsville, held its second annual golf tournament at Shepherd Hills Golf Club recently. The benefit was held to assist the rescue with veterinary costs that come with animal rescue. Medical care for the strays and rescued animals is always an unknown factor when rescuing dogs and cats. On this occasion, 27 foursomes from the community, signed up to play a scramble to aid the sanctuary in that mission. Along with the foursomes, members and businesses in the Lehigh Valley, contributed by being sponsors ranging from $65 to $2,000. In addition to the scramble there were baskets for raffle along with fun additions such as a putting contest, hole in one and pot of gold. After the scramble, there was a buffet and winners were announced. The event was organized by the volunteers at the sanctuary led by volunteer Tania Scriff. Thor Schaffer, the golf pro at Shepherd Hills, was invaluable with making this a successful event.
