In a news release dated Nov. 14, the Pennsylvania State Police Bethlehem announced an investigation by its criminal investigation unit into two separate Safe2Say reports concerning threats at Lehigh County Technical Institute, North Whitehall Township.

The news release offers the following details:

At approximately 7:45 a.m. Nov. 11, troopers responded to LCTI for the report of a bomb threat. Students were evacuated from the school and classes were canceled for the rest of the school day.

At approximately 9:33 a.m. Nov. 14, troopers again responded to LCTI for the report of a bomb threat. Students were dismissed from the school and classes for students were canceled for the remainder of the school day.

According to news accounts, a third bomb threat was called into the school Nov. 15.

In both incidents, a Pennsylvania State Police K-9 was used at the school. The investigations yielded “negative results for any explosive device,” according to the news release from police.

In the wake of the threats troopers will increase their presence at the school.

LCTI is a career and technical school open to students from nine public school districts including East Penn and Salisbury Township.

Agencies assisting in the investigation included, explosive detection canine teams from the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Police Department, Lehigh University Police Department, Palmer Township Police Department, Lehigh County Sheriffs Department, Allentown Police Department, South Whitehall Township Police Department and Whitehall Township Police Department.
