Letter to the Editor: Heartfelt thanks

To the Editor:

The past two weeks have been very trying for my family.

Our son, Matt Hummel, 30, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 2. My wife, Vicki and I have been on an emotional roller coaster, with unexpected memories triggered by the most simple associations.

The support of family and friends and the first responder community has been overwhelming. That support has sustained us through these terrible days. This letter is to thank our friends and those in the emergency medical and firefighting community.

The affection and caring shown by our associates from Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company and Eastern Salisbury Fire Company, as well as our EMS family of Allentown paramedics and Cetronia Ambulance Corps, made Matt’s funeral easier to muster through.

Thank you to Salisbury Township for allowing us on short notice to use Lindberg Park for a gathering of friends and associates after the service.

To Nicos Elias Funeral Home and WSVFC Chaplain Rodney Wells, thank you for being there for us when we needed you the most.

Everyone we know has given us their best, even when circumstances have been at their worst. Please know that we will always be there for you as you have been for us. Your kindness will always be remembered. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
