East Penn seniors invited to Thanksgiving lunch

National Honor Society will hold its annual Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Luncheon at Emmaus High School Nov. 17. For this event, volunteers must report to Cafeteria 1 by 1:15 p.m. If the luncheon extends beyond school hours, students may need to arrange their own after-school transportation. Upon completing the event, volunteers may add two “NHS Project” hours to their 2022-2023 hour log, which can be found on the NHS Schoology page.

EHS’ 2022-2023 winter sports season will begin Nov. 18 after school. For game schedules, contact information, ticket prices and more, visit https://www.eastpennsd.org/athletics-activities/.

For current seniors interested in taking a free college course next semester, the EHS High School Scholars Program is accepting applications now through Nov. 18. Interested students should visit Mrs. Greene in the counseling office. Accepted students will complete one college course at DeSales University.

The EHS Orchestra will hold its annual winter concert 7-9 p.m. Nov. 18 in the auditorium. All East Penn School District families are invited to attend.

For EHS parents and guardians, the next parent advisory meeting is scheduled 6 p.m. Nov. 21 in the EHS library. This is an opportunity to share thoughts and suggestions to better the school community.

Interact Club is seeking volunteers 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 23 to run an EHS Angel Network fundraiser at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in the Hamilton Crossings shopping center. Various two-hour time slots are available. Volunteer duties include selling raffle tickets, promoting the EHS Angel Network and monitoring the raffle table. Interested students may sign up through the Interact Club Schoology page.

In preparation for its December issue, The Stinger set Nov. 25 as its deadline for all rough drafts and story outlines. All documents should be uploaded to The Stinger’s shared Google Drive by this date.

In addition, The Stinger will hold an Adobe InDesign workshop after school Nov. 30 in Room 559 for any staff members interested in improving their layout skills.

Communities in Schools will offer four skill-building groups during the second marking period: Stress Management, Wellness, Skills for Success and Let Go & Move On. Each group will focus on various techniques for mental and emotional well-being. Meetings begin Nov. 29 or Nov. 30 in Room 330 and will occur once a week until January 2023.
