Norma M. (Mackes) Armitage, 93, of Allentown, died Nov. 8, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing, Allentown. She was the spouse of Gwendlyn J. “Gwen” Armitage and the late Steward S. Snyder Jr. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm M. and Isabel V. (Folk) Mackes.
She was a 1947 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1949 graduate of the former Allentown Business College. She was a secretary for East Penn School District for many years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of the East Penn Retired Secretaries Club and a pinochle club.
She loved gardening, viewing sports, was an avid reader and traveler; mostly she loved her family.
She was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown and a founding member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus.
She is survived by her spouse; sons, Todd A. Snyder Sr. (Mary), of Alburtis, Jeffrey L. Snyder (Dorene Cunningham), of Parkdale, Ore.; daughter, Audrey L. Wanamaker (Ralph Jr.), of Bethlehem; brother, Arlan Mackes (Trudy), of Braselton, Ga.; sisters-in-law, E. Lynn Heimbach (Ed Keichel), of Cementon, Beverly K. Montgomery (James), of Centerville; brother-in-law, Jay F., of East Stroudsburg; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
