State police blotter in Salisbury

A Macungie motorist allegedly fell asleep at the wheel of his sport utility vehicle on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township and crashed into another vehicle at approximately 10:21 p.m. Oct. 18. According to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville, the motorist was westbound in the center lane near mile marker 56.2 when he fell asleep. The vehicle continued to accelerate, reaching a high rate of speed and crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. The SUV stopped in the center lane. The second vehicle came to a rest on the shoulder of the road. The driver of the second vehicle and his five passengers, including four children between 4 and 10 years old, were not hurt.

A New Ringgold motorist was not hurt when his vehicle crashed into a Mack Truck on Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township Oct. 4, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was eastbound near mile marker 59.1 when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a cement barrier on the shoulder of the road before crossing all lanes of traffic and hitting the truck. The vehicle stopped partially in the off ramp and shoulder of West Rock Road. The truck driver was not injured. Yocum Towing also responded.
