At the Oct. 20 Lower Macungie Board of Commissioners meeting, Ordinance 2022-06 was passed unanimously. This ordinance amends Chapter 1 of the Codified Ordinances for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and the Public Safety Advisory Committee.
The Parks and Recreation Board is to be deleted and replaced by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. There will be seven members with three year terms.
The Public Safety Commission and Emergency Management Organization were deleted and replaced with the Public Safety Advisory Committee and Emergency Management Organization. There are seven members; three of the members come from the township appointed by the board of commissioners, the township fire chief, Macungie Ambulance Corp and a member of the township staff.
Resolution 2022-72 was approved which adopts meeting rules and regulations in conformity with the Sunshine Act and repeals the previous rules and regulations.
Remote attendance by commissioners was discussed. It is understood there are reasons for not attending such as illness, travel or other commitments. The policy affects other groups except for the zoning hearing board. Members of the public can view remotely but not participate with exceptions.
