Salisbury first responders were called to Lehigh Christian Academy, 1165 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Oct. 31 for an unknown odor in the school, according to a news release from Salisbury Township Police.
Police officers and fire crews from the Eastern Salisbury Fire Department and Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to the school at approximately 12:24 p.m.
WSFD Fire Chief Joshua Wells took command of the incident when he arrived.
Investigators at the scene believed the odor might be from an HVAC system at the school.
Cetronia EMS evaluated students and staff. During the incident four people were taken to a hospital for evaluation as a precaution.
Salisbury Police Department officers assisted with reuniting students and parents.
Investigators consulted the Leigh County Hazardous Materials Team before creating a plan for students to return to the building.
“Every precaution was made to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all students and staff during this incident and the school is working with a vendor to correct the suspected nonemergency issue, ” according to the news release from Salisbury police.
