McClure honors deputy sheriffs

At the Oct. 20 Northampton County Council meeting, county Executive Lamont McClure honored Deputy Sheriffs Jonathan Garcia and Edward Repyneck.

Garcia and Repyneck, along with two Colonial Regional Police Department officers, collectively resuscitated an unconscious individual who crashed his vehicle in Hanover Township Sept. 14.

The officers administered three doses of Narcan, which treats narcotic overdoses, and an oxygen treatment after finding the young man cyanotic.

“The deputies’ and officers’ quick, calm and decisive actions resulted in a positive lifesaving event,” McClure said. “They applied their training, experience and professionalism and are deserving of the departmental recognition of a letter of commendation.”

In other business, council passed a motion approving McClure’s appointments to various boards. Among those were Armando Moritz-Chapelliquen, Charles Elliott, John McGorry and Stephen Melnick, who were appointed as citizen representatives to the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission. Their terms expire Dec. 21, 2026.

In other business, the board said it will hold a possible debate and vote on an ordinance authorizing the purchase of 3408 and 3506 Kesslersville Road from Thomas and Antoinette Dietzler at the next meeting, which was held Nov. 3.

The next county council meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the county building, 669 Washington St., Easton.
