Joanne N. Kunkel, 91, formerly of Emmaus, died Oct. 31, 2022, at Country Meadows, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Kunkel, who died Aug. 10, 2017. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret T. (Christoff) Hoffert.

She was a member of the former Grace Lutheran Church, Allentown.

She worked for Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator and retired from the company in the directory assistance department.

While raising her daughters, she worked part time for the former Traub’s Market.

She is survived by daughters, Robyn Balzano and her fiancé, Bruce Clauser, Patricia and her husband, Glenn Herman; grandchildren, Renee Garber, Dr. Lauren Thompson and her husband, Kevin, Anthony Balzano; great-grandchildren, Owen, Lucy, Caroline, Emma, Nicholas, Reid and Rosalia. She was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas Balzano and a brother, Harry Hoffert.
