Gary Dale Sinnott

Gary D. Sinnott, 80, of Bloomsburg, died Oct. 20, 2022, in Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation, Danville, where he resided since Sept. 22, 2022.

The husband of Pamela M. (Coach) Sinnott, the couple would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Nov. 25.

Born Aug. 6, 1942, in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Rowan) Sinnott.

He was a 1959 graduate of Hanover Area High School and he resided in the Bloomsburg area since 1970.

Employed by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for 44 years, retiring in 2004, at the time of his retirement, he was director of programming.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-64 and was stationed in the Panama Canal for two-and-one-half years.

A member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, he was a lector, greeter and Sunday School teacher.

He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.

A baseball and softball umpire for 42 years, he was the president of the Bloomsburg Little League for 10 years.

He often volunteered at Bloomsburg University sporting events, collecting tickets and assisting in any way he could.

He was also a Philadelphia Phillies fan and loved to watch baseball games on television.

An avid runner, he loved Superman, and ate Wheaties for breakfast for 77 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Dale P. Sinnott, and his wife, Debbie, of Olney, Md.; daughter, Tina, wife of Michael Tarvin, of New Tripoli; grandchildren Steven, Taylor, Skyler, Molly, Kelly, William, Kyle and Cameron; and brothers: Joseph A. Sinnott, and his wife, Roberta, of Chandler, Ariz., the Rev. Andrew Sinnott of Mountain Top, and Kevin Sinnott of Breslau.

He was predeceased by brothers Martin and Myles Sinnott.
