School board approves advisers, appointments, coaches

At the Whitehall-Coplay School Board meeting Oct. 24, the board approved positions for advisers, new appointments, coaching personnel and others.
Approved 2022-23 Whitehall High School advisers for clubs/music include Nicole Capuano and Natasha Lewis, Book Club advisers, at $537.18 each, and Cara Craft, spring musical producer, at $2,148.72, and spring musical music director, at $1,611.54.
New appointments include Dawn Croom, executive assistant to the assistant to the superintendent, at a prorated salary of $50,451; Marsha Rivas, executive assistant to the business manager, at a prorated salary of $50,451, effective Oct. 25; Jennifer Hernandez, part-time special education paraeducator at Gockley Elementary School, at $20.42 per hour; Shirine Aljunidi, part-time 1:1 special education paraeducator at Gockley Elementary, at $20.42 per hour; Angelica Abrantes, part-time special education paraeducator at Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, at $20.42 per hour, effective Oct. 24; Gillian Kromer, part-time reading paraeducator at Zephyr Elementary School, at $19.23 per hour; Calie Albitz, food service worker, at $18 per hour, effective Oct. 3; Nicole Velazquez, part-time cafeteria monitor at Zephyr Elementary, at $14.25 per hour, effective Oct. 11; Lydia Azar, Wafaa Namous, Yaritza Rodriguez and Rima Alahmar, food service workers, at $18 per hour for three hours per day; Jose Burgos, CDL driver, pay rate in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; Karen Arcieri, CDL driver, pay rate in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, effective Oct. 21; and Stacy Yavorski, van driver, pay rate in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
The board approved the transfer of Courtney Gawrys from special education paraprofessional at Gockley to special education speech paraprofessional, at $20.42 per hour, replacing Yvonne Bachert.
Approved daily substitutes include Gabriella Olivieri, paraeducator/secretarial, and Jennifer Marx and Stacy Yavorski, cafeteria.
Approved 2022-23 coaching personnel include Joseph Attieh, Michael Cannon, Kristopher Krawchuk and Shane Schmeckenbecher, assistant wrestling coaches, volunteers; Doug Bonshak, Ryan Heimbach, Luke Roth and Franklin Rudolph, assistant wrestling coaches, at $4,297.44 each; Eric Dogmanits, Corey Frantz and Zachary Gilbert, assistant boys basketball coaches, at $4,297.44 each; Tyler Holubowski and Thomas Keppel, assistant boys basketball coaches, volunteers; Anthony Marsicano, Keith O’Brien, Mackenzie McVicker and Kristen Windsor, assistant girls basketball coaches, at $4,297.44 each; Keith O’Brien and Matthew Schultz, WCMS assistant boys basketball coaches, at $2,148.22 each; Juan Pagan and Katrina Patterson, WCMS assistant girls basketball coaches, at $4,297.44 each; Kelly Robertson, assistant girls basketball coach, volunteer; and David Seeloff, assistant swimming coach, at $3,223.08.
The board appointed Jeffrey Jones as academic athletic coach, at $39 per hour, in partnership with the AthLife sponsorship program of St. Luke’s University Hospital, effective Sept. 8.
The board accepted the resignation of Lamar Long, WCMS head field hockey coach, effective Sept. 29.
The next school board meeting will be 7 p.m. Nov. 21. Committee meetings on education/student activities, operations/transportation and finance/personnel are held 4 p.m. Nov. 14.
