Northampton: Holy Trinity to host designer bag bingo

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1235 Main St., is planning a designer bag bingo Nov. 5.

Doors open 11:30 a.m., and bingo starts 1 p.m. Prizes include bags by Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Fossil, Vera Bradley and Coach.

The event also includes a Chinese auction. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Proceeds benefit the church’s building fund.

Boy Scout Troop 93 will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser 4-7 p.m. Nov. 5 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 19th Street and Lincoln Avenue. The meal includes salad, drinks and ice cream.

There is a cost. Children age 6 and under eat for free.

Celebrate Thanksgiving with fresh-baked strudel and roasted nuts! Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave., has teamed with Heidi’s Strudel to offer apple, cherry, cheese and apricot almond strudel, along with German-roasted almonds and sugar-roasted cashews.

Orders and payment are due Nov. 9. Pickup is planned for 4:30-6:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at the church.

The Joint Veterans Organization of Northampton is planning a Veterans Day program 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the veterans plaza, 14th Street and Washington Avenue. All are encouraged to attend to honor our military veterans.

Northampton Area Historical Society will present a program to commemorate local World War II veterans Nov. 13 in the auditorium of Northampton Area High School, 1619 Laubach Ave. Doors open 1:15 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

The Easton Municipal Band will kick off the program with a concert.

The veterans who will be honored are those who had their photos in local newspapers during the war. Scrapbooks containing the photos were given or lent to the historical society.

More than 1,000 servicemen and women from Northampton and the surrounding area are shown in the books. Their names will be read starting 2 p.m. on the day of the program.

Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1301 Newport Ave., is holding a nut roll sale. Choices include apricot, lekvar, nut, poppy seed, red raspberry and pumpkin roll.
