Fullerton: St. John’s men’s group to meet

The men’s breakfast group of St. John’s United Church of Christ is next scheduled to meet 8:30 a.m. Nov. 5 at Hamilton Family Restaurant, 2027 Hamilton St., Allentown.

November is Diabetic Awareness Month. The Whitehall Active Community Center, in partnership with the Whitehall Lions Club, is hosting a Diabetic Awareness event, set for 1-3 p.m. Nov. 6 at 2301 Pine St.

Co-sponsors are St. Luke’s University Health Network and HNL Labs Medicine.

Robin Gayle, from the diabetes education department at St. Luke’s, will be on site to answer any questions and offer literature on diabetes.

HNL Labs will be offering free glucose monitoring using a finger stick, and the Lions Club will have a container to collect your eyeglasses and will provide Spot Vision screenings.

Healthy snacks will be available, and everyone attending will receive a chance to win a door prize.

Join us if you are a diabetic, have a friend or relative who is a diabetic or if you are just interested in maintaining your own health. All are invited.

Fullerton American Legion Post 367, 609 Fullerton Ave., will be having Veterans Day services Nov. 11.

The schedule is as follows: 9 a.m., service at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 200-299 Fullerton Ave.; 9:30 a.m., at the memorial across the street from Post 367; 10 a.m., ceremony at Post 367; and 11:30 a.m., service at the Whitehall Township memorial, 3219 MacArthur Road.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., will be serving its monthly breakfast buffet 8-11:30 a.m. Nov. 13 in the parish hall.

Come and fill up on all your favorites of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, home fries, pancakes, Danish, juice and coffee.

St. John’s UCC is now collecting boxes of stuffing or filling for the Thanksgiving holiday for the clients at Whitehall Food Pantry.

A shopping cart for donations can be found in the coatroom area by the sanctuary.
