Galcon Life House fundraiser

The Cay Galgon Life House hosted its second annual Casks & Corks fundraiser Sept. 22 at Black River Farms in Bethlehem. Over 100 guests were treated to wine, sangria and spirit tasting, catered fare from Tacos Y Tequila, and entertaining live music by local artist, Steve Johnson.

“This event was more than a fundraiser. It was an opportunity for attendees to learn more about our work at the Life House,” said Board Member Debby Keba, “which is to help pregnant women and mothers of infants in crisis, with the ultimate goal of preparing them for a life of self-reliance.”

Guests enjoyed games, a gift basket raffle and a “Mother’s Journey” board game that provided new and old friends with an opportunity to understand the step-by-step process that each mother travels as she works through the program at the Life House. This creative fundraising opportunity raised $2,600, exceeding the goal by $600.

The highlight of the evening was the honoring of two of the Residential Program’s clients by presenting them with graduation certificates. The Residential Program provides safe, transitional housing for women who are pregnant and experiencing homelessness, as well as help them navigate the challenges of motherhood. Both of these new mothers were present to accept their certificates along with their toddlers, who kept the evening lively.
