NAGY According to a WFMZ media report, “The nation's oldest continuous running drive-in theater may soon be operating under new ownership.” On Oct. 21, The Press attempted to contact owners Paul and Susan Geissinger, of Shankweiler's Drive-in, via phone and received the following message, “We are temporarily closed at the moment. Thank you.”

According to Shankweiler's Drive-In website, “Wilson Shankweiler opens Pennsylvania's first drive-in, which is only the second drive-in to open in America, in Orefield, on April 15, 1934.” This photo shows an aerial view of Shankweiler's Drive-In, 4540 Shankweiler Road, Orefield.
