Parkland Library offering Halloween programs

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall, will have its Halloween Spooktacular from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 21 in Covered Bridge Park, 2465 Wehr Mill Road.
Truck or treat from 5-6 p.m., spooky story time from 6:15-6:30 p.m. and movie in the park, “Addams Family 2,” from 6:30-8 p.m.

Delicious rock cycle for teens will take place 12:30-1:30 p.m. Oct. 22 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
Learn about the science of rocks and their delicious rock cycle using chocolate.

Adults, join the baking coach workshop to make some spooky treats 2-3 p.m. Oct. 22 via Zoom.

Baby story time for kids ages birth to 15 months with an adult caregiver will take place 10:30-11 a.m. Oct. 24 and 31 at the library.
The library staff will share simple books, lap bounces, rhymes, and songs - all designed to help babies build important social, motor and early literacy skills.

Get in the Halloween vibe with campfire stories and yummy chocolate candy at the library’s Creepy Stories and Candy program for kids in grades five to 12 from 6:30-8:15 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
Come and hear storyteller Denise McCormack of the Storytellers Guild for an evening of ghost stories and haunted tales.
Let library staff know if your child has any food allergies when signing up.

Adults, come and join library staff as Author Shannon Helzer hosts a discussion on his new book, “Rhue’s House,” 5-6 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
He will also take questions as well as discuss his writing process and the inspiration behind the book.

Kids of all ages come and listen to not-so-spooky stories at stations set up throughout the library and collect treats along the way from 10-11:30 a.m. on Oct. 29.

Teen Crafts, Heat Sensitive Slim for kids in grades five through 12 will be offered from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library has partnered with NeuLingo, a live, engaging online Chinese program to offer free Chinese language and culture classes for children in first through fifth grade 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 via Zoom.
Register once to attend all five sessions.

Bring a favorite book and practice reading to the patient and gentle Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library will host drop-in Senior Coffee Club 10-11 a.m. Nov. 3 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.

The library is offering Tinkerlab for kids entering second to fifth grade from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the Carol and Perry Zirkel Meeting Rooms.
They will work individually or in small groups on a variety of STEAM-based projects.

Registration is needed to attend all these programs except the Halloween Spooktacular. Kids craftnoon, knitting and coloring classes, Hallo-Reads and Read to the Pups program.
