A 58-year-old Allentown man was killed when the vehicle he was operating was involved in a collision with an ambulance and another vehicle Oct. 13 in the area of 8491 Route 309, Lynn Township.
Route 309 was closed from Mountain Road, Lynn Township to Route 895, Schuylkill County, for several hours.
According to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, Philip J. Helman was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m. the same day at the scene.
Buglio said the cause of Helman’s death was multiple traumatic injuries due to a motor vehicle collision.
The manner of his death was ruled an accident, he said.
In addition to the coroner’s office, this death is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police, Fogelsville, with assistance from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
