SHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Salisbury High School.
Q. Who is in your family? Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My family is made up of my mom Theresa, dad Dave, my four brothers William, Gabriel, Aaron and Zachary, three cats Sparkie, Clover and Ficus, two dogs, Lena and Bandit and tortoise Scout.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is science. I find it fascinating how science can never be proven or final but ever changing. I also enjoy conducting experiments to better my understanding of what is known in science.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have earned my Girl Scout Bronze and Silver awards, was inducted into National Honor Society and have placed first at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science at the regional and state levels. Being part of a team, I placed second at the 2022 Reading Olympics and first at the county Pennsylvania Envirothon competition.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A. In school, I am part of Salisbury’s Key Club, Scholastic Scrimmage team, Reading Olympics team, concert band, rifle team and German Club. Outside of school I participate in Girl Scouts.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. After high school, I hope to attend a four-year college close to home and major in a STEM field.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge is time management; I’m known for procrastinating on my school work.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I would like to be remembered for being kind and always giving my best.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. I admire my mom. She has always been there to encourage me and help me; she has never given up on me or doubted my goals. She isn’t afraid to stand by her values and beliefs.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. Life isn’t always going to be easy, but you need to keep trying. Don’t give up and know it can always get better.
