John Meckes, 93, of Hokendauqua, died Oct. 13, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Dorothy “Dot” M. (Micklus) Meckes for 39 years.

Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late Joseph Jr. and Helen (Balasky) Meckes.

He was an Emmaus High School graduate.

He was in the military police for the U.S. Army 1951-53 during the Korean conflict.

He was a machinist for General Electric for 33 years before his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Young at Heart group, Northampton.

He is survived by four daughters, Jody Martin of Florida, Judy and husband Brian Steffen of Coopersburg, Sandra and husband William Groller of Florida and Connie and husband Curt Fehr of Allentown; six grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandra Meckes.

He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Meckes.

Services will be private.
