There were two resolutions on the agenda for the North Whitehall supervisors’ Oct. 3 meeting.
The first one was implementing the state’s Act 57 of 2022, which amends the local tax collection.
The act was scheduled to take effect statewide on Oct. 11, 90 days after Gov. Tom Wolf signed the bill.
Act 57 provides for the waiver of interest, fees, penalties or charges which accrue when a taxpayer doesn’t make a timely tax payment because the bill was not received.
The taxpayer needs to request the waiver from the interest and penalties from the tax collector, however the tax still needs to be paid.
The second resolution authorizes the township manager to execute a matching grant agreement with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, if awarded, to complete Laurys Firehouse Park rehabilitation and development improvements.
“We’re going to convert one of the basketball courts out there to three pickle all courts and rehabilitate the other basketball courts,” Supervisors’ Chairman Al Geosits said.
He also mentioned installing cameras and sealing the parking lot.
In announcements, the board set Trick or Treat Night for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28.
In the event of rain, trick or treat will be rescheduled to Oct. 29, at the same time.
