Homecoming week brings excitement to ACCHS

This past week at Allentown Central Catholic High School was Spirit Week, with themed dress down days each day which concluded with the anticipated Homecoming Pep Rally.
The pep rally included performances from the drum line, dance team, color guard, cheerleading team, band and the infamous boys’ Mance Team. Students from each class also participated in the “Minute-to-Win-it” games, which consisted of several unique relay races.
The Homecoming dance took place Oct. 7 in Rockne Hall, followed by the Homecoming football game Oct. 8 against Nazareth at J. Birney Crum Stadium. Unfortunately, the Vikings fell to Nazareth 42-14.
Although the fall sports season is ongoing, winter athletes are looking ahead to their seasons. Winter sports registration is open now through Nov. 17. Athletes must have a current FamilyID registration and must have had a physical within the last year.
LVHN has free physicals for ACCHS athletes at ExpressCare locations now through late November. Impact tests must also be conducted at home if one has not been completed in two years.
Basketball clinics for girls in grades 4-8 will be held at ACCHS 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 13 and Nov. 1. If interested, contact cnosovitch@acchs.info to sign up.
Anyone looking to try out for the Vikette Junior High basketball team must contact Kathy Davidowich at kdavidowich@acchs.info.
The girls volleyball team is holding a fundraiser at Chipotle, 750 N. Krocks Road, Allentown, 5-9 p.m. Oct. 22.

Financial Aid Night with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency will take place 6 p.m. Oct. 19 discussing how to apply for financial aid and how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
The fall open house is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Nov. 13. Attendants will receive a tour of the school, meet the administration, speak with students and hear about all the clubs and activities offered. Anyone who registers Nov. 13 for the 2023-2024 school year will get $200 off the application fee.
The ACCHS Music Department is holding a sneaker fundraiser drive through Oct. 28. Donated sneakers will be reused or recycled and can be placed in the collection bin by the Media Center. All proceeds will go toward Central’s talented young musicians.
Student council will sell Philly pretzels Oct. 14 after school.
The required Junior Class Retreat is scheduled for Oct. 25 and students must register prior to attending the retreat. Students will go to the Padre Pio Shrine located in Barto. Progress reports have been posted to Sapphire and are accessible to students and parents.
The first quarter ends Nov. 4 and the second quarter will begin Nov. 7.
