EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.
A. My mom and dad are Andrew and Nichola Schweitzer. I also have three cats: Isabella, Cici and Ducky.
Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject is history because I enjoy and feel it’s beneficial to learn about current events. These subjects allow me to develop my own opinions and overall better my understanding for my future.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received the Academic Excellence Award, Principal’s Honor Roll, honor roll (ninth through 12th grades), Morning Call Player of the Week (volleyball) and Eastern Pennsylvania Conference All-Conference 3rd Team (volleyball) throughout the past four years.
Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?
A. I am involved with Emmaus Girls Volleyball (captain), Peers Assisting Learning Support (secretary), Health Occupations Students of America (newsletter leader), Kid to Kid Club, No Place for Hate Club, National Honor Society, Hornet Ambassadors, Latin Club (11th grade), Spanish Club (10th grade) and I work part-time at Just Chill Creamery.
These activities have helped me grow and become a well-rounded individual. At first it was hard for me to step out of my comfort zone and go to a meeting with kids I didn’t know, but I’m grateful I did. These organizations have allowed me to meet some of my best friends, expand my knowledge and overall help me work toward my goals.
Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A. My biggest challenge to date would be time management and balancing my academics, athletics and social life.
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. My goal for after high school is to go to college to work toward a degree in something I love. I also plan to play collegiate volleyball.
Q. Whom do you admire? Why?
A. It’s impossible for me to choose one person in my life who I admire. Almost everyday I meet or hear of someone who I aspire to be like in the future. People I admire are leaders, listeners, hard-workers, selfless and determined. I admire my mom and dad who work hard everyday, Welles Crowther, a heroic and selfless man whose story I heard Sept. 11, my friends and the list goes on. Meeting and hearing of people like these help me to push myself to be the best version of myself.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I want people to remember how I made them feel. I want them to think of me as an authentic person: dependable, fun, focused and trustworthy.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice to my peers is to use all of your resources and never be afraid to ask for help.
