Joseph G. Herman Sr., 85, of Whitehall, died Oct. 9, 2022, at home. He was the husband of Evelyn (Palagonia) Herman for 61 years.

Born in East Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Philip and Donna (Fields) Herman.

He was in the U.S. Air Force.

He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 28 years.

He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph Jr. and wife Joan; two daughters, Deborah and partner Jerry Luft and Dina and husband Edward Jefferis; six grandchildren, Mandy, Kristilynn and husband Samuel Sylver, Nicholas, Joseph III, Trey and Eva; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, EzraMae and Evelyn; and two sisters, Patricia Saszie and Joyce Anderson.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Robert; and a sister, Joan.

There will be a viewing 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 10 a.m., Oct. 14 at the church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay, 18037.
