Dr. Jerome G. “Jerry” Greene Jr., 83, of Allentown, a native of New Orleans, La., died Sept. 21, 2022. He was the husband of Zelda Greene for 53 years.

He was a son of the late Irene and Jerome Greene Sr.

He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, and, as an educator, he cultivated the students of several prestigious higher education institutions.

As a legacy jazz musician, he played countless instruments in bands across the map.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Alyssa and Jerry III; three grandchildren, Robert, Jay IV and Camryn; and two sisters, Betty and Lyndia.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ada; and a daughter, Leslie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield. Properly worn facial coverings and social distancing will be mandatory at the service.
