Mary Margaret (Ortwein) Ferry, 87, died Sept. 28, 2022. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late William Ortwein and Catherine (Tokar). She was the wife of John Ferry for 68 years.
She was a 1952 Bethlehem Catholic HS graduate.
She and her husband owned and operated Fountain Hill Cleaners. She was an officer manager for Milcrest Manufacturing, Fountain Hill, from 1968-1986; and for DuPont Foundation, Wilmington, Delaware, from 1986 until she retired in 1999.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church in her youth and of Saint Ursula’s R.C. Church, Fountain Hill, most of her adult life.
She was a member and a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 40, Fountain Hill, where she was chief cook and managed the kitchen. As a Bethlehem Library - Fountain Hill representative, she was awarded the Bethlehem Public Library Volunteer Service Recognition honor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, John Jr. (Cathy Gallagher), Kathleen, Karen (late Frank Neglia), Jeffrey (Carmen Davila), Marguerite (Michael Picucci) and Patrick (Colette Gaughan); two siblings, Catherine McShane and William Ortwein (Joan); 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
