Drive-thru flu shots begin Nov. 5
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) will administer free influenza vaccinations for the 25th straight year for adults and children six (6) months and older during two community sessions in November. Shots will be all drive-thru at Dorney Park in Allentown Nov. 5, and Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Hecktown Oaks in Lower Nazareth Township on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
Adults and children in the vehicle will not be required to wear a face covering while being vaccinated. Masks will be required for all LVHN physicians, nurses and staff interacting with those in their vehicles and providing the shots.
A vaccine information statement, consent form and map of the vaccination route for Dorney Park and LVH–Hecktown Oaks are available at lvhn.org/flushot. Please bring a completed and signed 2022-23 consent form for each individual receiving a flu shot.
Those planning to receive a flu shot during LVHN’s November drive-thru vaccination campaign are asked to abide by the following requests:
• Review the vaccine information sheet and complete and bring the 2022-2023 consent form for each person to be vaccinated. Forms may be found at lvhn.org/flushot, or requested by calling 888-402-5846.
• Dress appropriately-loose-fitting clothing for the shot to be administered in the arm, and the leg of children under 2 years old.
Anderson Campus expands emergency room
A new emergency room has opened at the Anderson Campus just off Route 33 at 1872 St. Luke’s Boulevard, Bethlehem Township, facing Freemansburg Avenue.
The facility includes a Level II Adult Trauma Center and increased capacity from 31 to 45 beds. The three-bed state-of-the-art trauma bay has dedicated radiology services, including an integrated built-in x-ray arm that extends over all three bays and is adjacent to the GE CT scanner.“This enhanced and enlarged emergency department will allow us to accommodate the robust patient volume we experience at St. Luke’s Anderson in a much more efficient manner,” says John B. Wilson, Chief of Emergency Medicine, St. Luke’s Anderson Campus.
The campus was recognized as the second “Best Teaching Hospitals” in the country by Fortune/Merative 100 Top Hospitals and as one of “America’s Best Maternity Hospitals for 2022” by Newsweek.
