Delayed two years due to COVID, the Freedom and Liberty high school classes of 1970 finally reunited for their celebration Sept. 26.
Organizer Paulette White Moll said, “The facility [Homewood Suites] was very good about working with us and honoring the original prices. Everything is now coming together”
White Moll explained the unusual connection between what we today see as rival schools. “We went to joint junior high schools – together – and were split up when they opened Freedom in 1967. In 1970 the senior class size was 500 at Freedom and 599 at Liberty.
“Since 1970, Freedom has lost 55 classmates and Liberty has lost 106 classmates.” White Moll said.
The reunion committee consisted of – Connie Walsh Sentz, Sally Messinger Maragulia, Cynthia Spooner, Veronica Bolcar Pavelko, Paulette White Moll, Steve Goosley, Sally Noel Billiard from Freedom, and graduates from Liberty – Jennifer Mease Ruyak, Kathleen Wambold Resh, Roy Resh, Aileen Wambold Modrick, Nancy Griffis Reinbold, Eileen Muschlitz, Andrea Sotak Soderich, Gary Hartney, Janice Smith Natalie Epinger Chickey. The last reunion was in 2015, when they had their 45th reunion that also included both schools.
