Wildlands Conservancy has permanently protected an additional four acres on Macungie Mountain in Lower Macungie Township.
Wildlands acquired the 4.09-acre parcel at a discounted price through the generous donation of a neighboring property owner.
The generosity of longtime friends and donors Merrill and Nancy Brenner, along with Wildlands’ giving community, helped make the purchase of the acquisition possible.
The new addition will expand the 43-acre Brenner-Penfield Macungie Mountain Preserve’s western boundary, protecting even more pristine habitat.
“This important acquisition further demonstrates our commitment to preserve our precious natural resources that make our region such a wonderful place to live, work and play,” Wildlands Conservancy President Chris Kocher said.
The Brenner-Penfield Macungie Mountain Preserve is an oasis in the ever-developing Lehigh Valley.
It features multiple trails, highlighted by an overlook at Sheep Rock, near the top of the mountain.
The newly acquired portion of the property fits squarely within Wildlands Conservancy’s key priorities and is now protected forever, thanks to generosity of the land trust’s giving community and their committed investment in Wildlands’ land-protection mission.
“With open spaces and natural habitat quickly disappearing in our region, we are thrilled to add this important four-acre parcel to our existing Brenner-Penfield Macungie Mountain Preserve. Generations of Lehigh Valley residents will benefit from this thoughtful addition to our region’s green infrastructure,” Kocher said.
