Ben was recently invited to a fall dance at a friend’s school. He asked his friend if there was a dress code; she replied a dress shirt and pants were suitable and she was wearing a gold dress.
As a growing teenager more into athletic activities than formal occasions, Ben has a limited wardrobe. We decided a gold tie would make a nice coordinating touch with his blue dress shirt and black pants.
I headed to the online shopper’s mecca of Amazon to see what was available. Matt and I had a good laugh over some of the wilder options: a gold sequin tie or a shiny gold suit. We weren’t sure who would be more appalled over those two dress choices: Ben or his friend, but we would have loved to see the reaction!
We finally located a nice dark blue tie with gold design that should coordinate nicely. Better yet, we even found it at a local store.
The copy deadline for the Nov. 2 column will be Oct. 27.
