The plan for a hair salon in a building along East Susquehanna Street was tabled by the Salisbury Township Planning Commission.
Erika Perez-Lopez proposes to convert the building, 1525 E. Susquehanna St., for use to include a hair salon.
Planners voted 5-0 to table the preliminary-final plan for the development project, which is on the north side of Susquehanna Street.
Salisbury Township Consulting Engineer David J. Tettemer of Keystone Consulting Engineers, Inc. read from his Sept. 19 review letter which, he said, had 16 comments about the plan.
Tettemer said he would have no engineering objection to a waiver to combine the preliminary and final plan.
Tettemer said he would have no engineering objections to several other waiver requests.
The placement of three shade trees along Susquehanna Street and two shade trees on the property was recommended to fulfill the requirement.
Salisbury Township Planning and Zoning Officer Kerry R. Rabold read from her Sept. 21 review letter of the plan. She discussed exterior lighting as depicted on the plan.
“It’s not a typical commercial business,” Joseph Rentko, president, Black Forest Engineering, LLC, Coplay, said on behalf of Perez-Lopez.
“It’s a house that the family will live in, on the second floor, and have the salon on the first floor,” Rentko said.
The number of parking spaces for customers and employees was discussed.
Access to the property is via Forest Drive, off Susquehanna Street. There is a sign at the point where the drive enters the woods that states “Private Drive.”
Planners want assurances that right-of-way access for the owner of the salon property is guaranteed.
The plan for the hair salon is expected to be back before planners at an upcoming meeting.
