Northampton Area Public Library: Basket social is set for Oct. 7
Join Northampton Area Public Library for its autumn basket social 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at Northampton Banquet and Event Center, 1601 Laubach Ave. Bake sale items, 50/50 tickets and food will also be available for purchase.
Ticket presale is going on until Oct. 6; the presale special is buy three cards, get one free. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the door.
This is a drop-and-go event. There will be no live drawing. Winners will be notified beginning Oct. 10.

Teen programming includes a bandanna pumpkin take-home craft Oct. 10 and a sugar skull decorating take-home craft Oct. 24. You must register to receive the craft kits.

Adult programming includes a paper roll pumpkin take-home craft beginning Oct. 10; Stitch and Chat meeting 6-7 p.m. Oct. 11; and the Well Read, Badly Behaved Book Club meeting 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25.
The book club is reading “The Lost Apothecary” by Sarah Penner. Copies are available to check out.

The library will host a presentation highlighting the current developments in the exploration and acceptance of the UFO phenomena, planned 6 p.m. Oct. 18.
There is an official office within the government to study unidentified aerospace and undersea phenomena. There is a growing interest within the scientific community to investigated UFOs and UAPs traveling through the skies and underwater.

The Friends of the Library group is selling 25% off Boscov’s saving passes at the library help desk. These passes are for Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends Day Oct. 19.

Children storytime programs are scheduled for Oct. 24-Dec. 8.
Lap sit storytime is for ages 0-24 months, toddler storytime is for 18-36 months, and preschool storytime is for 3-5 years.
There is also book club, games club and STEAM craft club for third-fifth grades.
Registration is required for most programs.

There will be a Medicare open enrollment community meeting 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Toni Schaller, a licensed insurance agent with United Healthcare and AARP, will detail all the things you can accomplish during the open enrollment period and what options might be best for you.

The Friends group is running a strudel fundraiser through Mattie’s Strudel Haus. Flavors include apple, cherry cobbler, butternut cheese, chicken bacon ranch, cheesesteak, pastie and taco.
You can place your orders at the library. Payment is due at time of order.
The last day to order strudel is Oct. 29. Pickup will be Nov. 14 at the library.
