Senior center Dances, classes being offered

Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, is offering the following dances from 7-10 p.m. Saturdays in October.

The small cover charge includes light refreshments.

·Oct. 1: “Country Dance” with Peggy Sue;

·Oct. 15 and 19: “KATO”; and

·Oct. 22: “Johnny K.”

The senior center will also be offering the following programs.

·Oct. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, and 31: Instructor Trisha Baker will host an “Arts and Crafts” class, 9-11 a.m.

·Oct. 5, 7,12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28: “Art For Everyone” with instructor Sue Bauder, noon-3 p.m.

Whatever medium, help is available. Both new and advanced students are welcome to attend these classes.

·Oct. 12: Paint N Sip “Van Gogh black Cat and Pumpkins” with instructor Angela Faidley, 6-8 p.m.

·Oct. 4, 11, 18, and 25: Instructor Bonny Batman will be offering a drop-in ceramics class from 9-11:30 a.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m.

·Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28: Cardmaking with instructor Sue Steltz, 9 a.m.

Learn a multitude of techniques to make beautiful, handmade cards for any occasion.

·Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31: Instructor Judy Peters will host a drawing class, 9:30 a.m.

Learn how to draw with pencils and paper.

This course is an introduction to composition, outline and shading techniques.

·Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28: Instructor Judy Peters will offer an acrylic class, 9:30 a.m.

Learn how to paint beautiful acrylic landscape scenery and subjects with brush techniques on canvas.

Bring a favorite photo for inspiration, palette and an acrylic set with basic brushes.

·Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 27: Bring your project - knitting, crocheting or other needlework to the “Knit and Chat Group,” 9-11:30 a.m.

Knit a little, chat a little, exchange views on everything and learn something about each other. All levels welcome. Free to members.

·Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 27: “Photography Composition Basics” with instructor Ray Royer, 12:30 p.m.

This is an informal way to learn more about photography as well as improve photography using a cellphone or any camera. This class is free to members.

·Oct. 7: “WWII – Correspondents and Photographers” with Dr. Charles Bonos, 2 p.m.
