Boys soccer beats EHS
Luckily for the Northampton boys soccer team, the final shot totals don’t always mean a whole lot.
Such was the case on Monday when the boys took on Emmaus. The Hornets entered the contest 11-0 on the season while the Kids were 10-1 and looking to make a statement.
While the Kids were outshot 11-2 in the contest, Northampton made one of those count in their 1-0 win.
“It was a great team win,” said head coach Chris Bastidas. “They stayed compact defensively and were able to make fantastic individual plays.”
Keeper Ethan Schrampf made six saves in the victory.
“Ethan Schrampf had an amazing game in goal,” Bastidas said. “Emmaus created some good scoring chances but Ethan was able to make big saves each time.”
Delali Tsome scored the only goal of the game, which came in the second half.
“Emmaus is a great team and they are superb defensively; but we have been scoring well and I felt we could score against them if we stuck to our game plan,” Bastidas said. “We were around their goal and our tenacity paid off with a well struck shot from Brody [Eisenhart] and a perfect deflection from Delali [Tsome].”
