Dolores A. Carl

Dolores “Dortzy” A. (Brown) Carl, 92, of Emmaus, died Sept. 25, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Eugene E. “Buzzy” Carl who died Nov. 5, 1998. Born in Emmaus, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen (Waschek) Brown.

She was a 1948 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1951 graduate of Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Sacred Heart Hospital in the Pediatrics Unit until her marriage in 1952. She was then employed as an office nurse throughout the years in Emmaus with Drs. F.A. Dry, Stanley Stauffer, J.R. Clifford, T. Eastland, Jeffrey Haberen, Timothy Schmeltzle and Dr. Bub & Associates Family Medical Center. She cared for generations of patients as a nurse for over 67 years, retiring from St. Luke’s Hospital in 2019.

She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.

She loved to travel, loved knitting and crafting. She enjoyed going to the casino to play Texas Hold’em, playing pinochle with friends and Polish Rummy with family, ruthlessly trying to beat them. She was a member of the Soroptimist, Red Hats and the Sacred Heart Hospital Alumni clubs and was an active member of the Emmaus Historical Society.

She is survived by her children, Amy L. Osofsky, of Plano, Texas and Thomas E. (Christine), of Emmaus; grandchildren, Ashley Osofsky, of Philadelphia, Andrew Osofsky, of New York, N.Y., Bayley, of Emmaus, Noah, of Emmaus; many nieces and nephews; Rosie Ruth, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Tom Brady, of Florida. She was predeceased by siblings, Betty Schwartz, Marie Keeler and William H. Brown.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sept. 29 at Northwood Cemetery, Harrison Street & Keystone Avenue, Emmaus.
