Light in the Night Safe Zone block party to be held Oct. 23

Following an executive session to discuss a personnel matter, Upper Milford’s Board of Supervisors met for a short meeting Sept. 15 to go over some payment of bills and subdivision improvements.

The following bill payments were approved: General Fund for $96,849.14, street light fund for $2,269.01 and escrow fund for $6,214.14.

A time extension was approved of 365 days for the O’Rourke Winery project taking effect Oct 15.

Finally, the fire police request for the Old Zionsville UCC Christmas Eve Service was approved. The service will take place 7-7:45 p.m. Dec. 24.

The minutes from the Sept. 1 meeting were approved.

During the public input of the Sept. 1 meeting, resident Phil Casey asked about the permit for the bridge at Quarry Road suggesting it could be scaled down to one lane.

Township Manager Edward Carter explained, “the permitting would have to be changed and since engineering and permitting were done as direct replacement, the bridge abutments were not being rebuilt only the decking is to be replaced ... to change the bridge width, all plans would need to be re-engineered.”

Also at the Sept. 1 meeting, Anthony Koneski Jr. was approved to fill the vacancy on the planning commission. According to his application of interest, Koneski has over 48 years of construction background, is knowledgeable in stormwater controls, planning and layout of developments.

A Light in the Night Safe Zone block party was approved to be held in the Upper Milford Township building 4-6 p.m. Oct. 23. The purpose of the event is to provide a safe and fun environment for children for Halloween. Families are encouraged to bring items for the Upper Milford Community Food Pantry.

The next Upper Milford Supervisors meeting will be held Oct 6.
