Macungie Borough Council met Sept. 19 at Macungie Institute where Stan Wojciechowski, engineer from Barry Isett & Associates gave his report about projects in Macungie.
The HVAC projects for the police station, borough hall and Macungie Institute have been combined as this could potentially save money. This was approved by council.
Wojciechowski said stormwater management should be amended.
Borough Clerk/Assistant Treasurer Brenda Bower submitted a letter of resignation which was accepted.
A meeting will be held with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation over the Hickory Street Bridge and Church Street. With the work to be done, the project will probably not begin until spring. However, it was suggested residents be made aware of their sidewalk issues as this can be costly and may need time to prepare financially.
The issue of garage and yard sale permits during festivals was raised for which there is an existing ordinance. It was suggested the permit form be reformatted and the fee schedule be changed in January 2023.
Council President John Yerman introduced a code of ethics and conduct in conjunction with the lengthy meetings. Exit interview procedures were also introduced.
There was an executive session before the meeting regarding personnel matters. Another was held after the public meeting over personnel matters and real estate.
