Zephyr Roundup: Warren takes 28th

The Whitehall cross country team competed in the Centaur Invitational this past weekend.

Mikayla Warren led the way for the Zephs and the girls. She took 28th with a time of 22:55.90. Tessa Hopkins was 109th in 27:23.1 and Grace Tsamutaus was 120th in 28:03.8.

Other finishers for the Zephs were Kathey Chen 122nd (29:02.9), Christen Makoul 130th (30:51.8), Emma Sargent 136th (32:30.6) and Marissa Gaudiuso 139th (33:09.8).

Virginia Kraus was the overall winner for the girls. The Moravian Academy student has dominated so far in the early season winning the Lion Invite, the Northampton Invite and now the Centaur. The freshman’s winning time was 18:45.9.

Madison Brown of Downingtown East was second in 19:21.3, Southern Lehigh’s Maura Lenhart was third in 20:31.2 and Stroudsburg’s Catharine Brinker was fourth in 20:43.6. Quakertown’s Rebekah Hickey took fifth in 20:46.6.

For the boys, Vinson Eggleston was the top runner with an 85th place finish in 20:09.0. Bradley Erie wasn’t far behind and took 88th in 20:17.9. Austin Hedrick was 98th in 20:37.7.

Other boys finishers were Aiden Borkenhagen 110th (21:09.7), Cory Wilson 120th (21:36.9), Ethan Kies 123rd (21:46.7) and Jacob Kralick 125th (21:49.4).

Samuel Bower of Northwestern was the overall winner with a time of 16:39.0. Anthony Engle was second in 16:51.7, representing Twin Valley. The Tigers Matthew Santana was third in 16:59.8. Palmerton’s Owen Hibell was fourth in 17:12 and Twin Valley’s Ben Meister was fifth in 17:21.6.

In field hockey, Nazareth beat Whitehall 3-0, scoring two goals in the first half.

The Eagles had 18 corners to Whitehall’s one. They outshot the Zephs 19-1

Morgan Herceg scored first and was assisted by Gianna Tripodi. Emma Kunkle made it 2-0 scoring unassisted. Gianna Tripodi scored third, also unassisted.

Whitehall’s Lilianna Trocki made 16 saves.
