Roughie Roundup: Field hockey gets a win

The Catasauqua field hockey team picked up a win, knocking off Northern Lehigh 2-1.

Catasauqua’s first goal was scored by Shelby Haldeman. She was assisted by Cheyenne Gioielli.

The Roughies got their second goal from Haldeman as well, thanks to an assist from Abigail Anitpas.

Goalkeeper Sophia Becker had 16 saves in the win.

Northern Lehigh’s goal was scored by Addison Cieri.

Catty fell to Southern Lehigh 7-0.

Catasauqua goalkeeper Sophia Becker had 25 saves.

Southern Lehigh’s scoring was: goal by Cassidy Clausnitzer assist by Sierra Giannattasio, goal by Jillian VandeBunte, goal by Lana Hughes assist by Jillian VandeBunte, goal by Jillian VandeBunte, goal by Lana Hughes, goal by Lana Hughes, and the final goal by Jillian VandeBunte. Catasauqua hosted a cross country meet Tuesday at Bicentennial Park. The girls fell to Northwestern 19-44, Northern Lehigh 24-34 and Palmerton 15-50.

Alivia Bear was tenth for the girls with a time of 21:44. Kaylee Weidaw took 28th in 25:08. Ava Smith was 30th in 25:24.

Maura Lenhart was the winner with a time of 19:44. She represented Souther Lehigh. The Spartans had the top-three spots with Alaina Patel taking second (20:15) and Emily Stock finishing third in 20:21.

Northwestern’s Angelina Kelin was fourth in 20:45 and Salisbury’s Emily Batten was fifth.

The boys lost to Northwestern 15-50 and to Palmerton 15-48.

Trevor Regits was the top finisher for the Catty boys taking 31st in 21:26. Gavin Cunningham was 38th 21:59.

Northwestern’s Matthew Santana won the race with a time of 16:44. Samuel Bower, also a Tiger, was second in 16:46. Palmerton had the next two finishers with Owen Hibell taking third in 17:05 and Jordan Mann finishing fourth in 17:27. Kane Williams of Southern Lehigh was fifth in 17:38.

The cross country team competed in a meet last week. The boys fell to Bangor 15-41 and to Wilson 15-50.

Southern Lehigh’s Kane took first with a time of 16:49.

Gavin Cunningham was 37th for Catty with a time of 21:16. Jaydon Reynolds took 38th in 21:20. Trevor Regits was 40th with a time of 21:37 and Mikhail Hartranft was 49th in 22:48.

Other Catty boys finishers were: 59. Jack Brubaker 24:10, 61. William Aguirre 24:21, 62. Jonathan Rizzo 24:45,

On the girls side, Alivia Bear had an impressive finish taking eighth with a time of 20:30. The race was won by Errico of Wilson who had the top time of 18:29.

Catty was edged by Bangor 24-33 and Wilson 22-33.

For Catty, Ava Smith was 23rd in 23:27 and Kaylee Weidaw was 28th in 24:43. Caroline Rodriguez took 33rd in 25:46 and Delaine Popa was 50th in 34:58.

Catty volleyball picked up another win, this time over Palmerton, 3-1. The scores were: 25-16, 25-19, 17-25, 25-12.

Briell Carvalho had 4 kills, 12 digs and an ace and Jane Armbruster added 2 kills, 11 digs and 2 aces.

Delaney Troxell had 6 kills and 14 digs while Delaine Popa chipped in with 6 aces, 8 assists and 12 digs. Cora Soltis had 3 aces, 7 kills, 10 digs and a block and Angelis Ramos-Pichardo had an ace, 5 assists, 2 kills and 12 digs.

Kayla Cunningham had an ace and 2 digs, Oliva Burnett added an ace and 5 digs while Amanda Hunsberger had an assist and 6 digs.

The JV girls won 25-11, 25-18.

Jane Hunsberger had 7 aces and 2 kills and Makayla Bird had 3 aces, 3 blocks and a kill. Yaneisha Martinez had 3 aces, Maliya Walp had 3 aces and a kill and Amberlynn Faust and Davina Fields each had a kill.

The girls lost to Saucon Valley 3-0. The varsity scores were: 11-25, 22-25, 18-25

Delaine Popa had 3 aces, 4 assists and 5 digs. Delaney Troxell had 3 aces, 6 kills and a block. Cora Soltis added 3 kills and 5 digs. Angelis Ramos-Pichardo had 3 assists and 5 digs and Briell Carvalho had 2 aces, 2 kills, 9 digs and 11 receptions.

JV scores were: 25-17, 9-25, 13-15

Adriana Molinary had 1 ace and 4 digs and Kara Gruver had 3 aces and 3 digs. Jane Armbruster had 3 aces and 3 digs and Makayla Bird had 3 kills and 2 blocks.

In boys soccer, Catty and Northern Lehigh tied 3-3.

Catty goals came from Xavier Razon, Jaxon Berrier and Brendan Nye.

Assists came from Nye and Osmar Ferre, who picked up two helpers in this game.

Ethan Moore scored all three Bulldog goals.

The Roughs topped Tamaqua 3-2.

Jacob Dove, Brendan Nye and Doryan Cene all scored for the Roughs.

Assists came from Mason Forstoffer, Jaxon Berrier and Osmar Ferre.

For the Raiders, goals came from Cooper Ansbach and Jack Tharp and Nick Barron had an assist.

Northern Lehigh won 8-1 in girls soccer.

Catty was outshot 31-2 in the contest.

Kaylee Weidaw had the Roughs lone goal.

For Nolehi, Barthold had three goals while Gordon, Kirk, Zarayko, V. Hanna and Fister each had one.

Southern Lehigh beat Catty 7-0. Solehi goals came from Haley Fluck, Ellie Monroe, Shea Lieberman, Morghan Davies (2), Jordyn Harper and Kylie Painter.

Assists came from Shea Lieberman and Rachel Snyder (2).

Catasauqua’s Brooke Barna had a save.
