District News: NAHS fundraiser is Sept. 16

Come out to support the Northampton Area High School Class of 2023 at its next Dine-N-Donate event.

From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 16, eat at Grove Street Pub & Grill, 1092 Howertown Road, North Catasauqua. A portion of the proceeds from your purchase will benefit the class.

Visit drive.google.com/file/d/1cFDBh1FMipxsVrcV3n-XSeAIALWEMlRm/view?usp=sharing to download the flier to bring to the restaurant.

***

Reminder: NAHS will hold its open house event 6-8 p.m. Sept. 15.

This is a great opportunity for parents/guardians to become familiar with their child’s teacher and the building. Information about the school year will be shared.

The Odyssey of the Mind group is beginning to form teams at NAHS. Odyssey of the Mind gives students the opportunity to share their creativity through writing, building, technology and performance.

Teams are forming now, so contact Mrs. McCann at mccannm@nasdschools.org to find out more and reserve your space.

Check out the fall 2022 community education program being offered. Participants do not need to be a Northampton Area School District resident to participate.

The following classes will be offered: water aerobics, yoga and country line dancing.

Yoga, instructed by Beth Sweetana, has started and will continue 7-8 p.m. Sept. 21 and 28 and Oct. 5 in the multipurpose room at Siegfried Elementary School.

The cost of the whole class is $30; if you drop in, the class is $10.

Bring a yoga mat or towel and water to class. All levels are welcome.

For more information or to register, visit nasdschools.org/commed or email Sandy Bischof at bischofs@nasdschools.org.

Northampton Borough Elementary School will be holding its first Boro-Thon, a walk/run event to raise money for the school, Sept. 30. The rain date is Oct. 7.

Students will raise money by getting pledges and walking/running laps around the track at NAHS. Pledges will be collected online at bit.ly/borothon.

Parents/guardians are welcome to sit in the stands to cheer on the students. Please have your child wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Students may also bring water bottles.

All funds raised will help with costs of field trips.

If any NAHS students need an ID, check your student email. Christmas City electronically emailed them to students in August.

If you have trouble finding your ID, visit the main office.

***

Reminder for Northampton Area Middle School parents/guardians: Drop-off begins 7 a.m., and homeroom begins 7:24 a.m. Students must be in the classroom before that time to avoid being marked tardy.

NAMS thanks you for your continued support and cooperation.

***

Reminder for NAHS students who are late arrivals: If you are coming into the building before class starts, report to the auditorium until the bell rings. Do not go to class and hang out in the hall until class starts.

***

Reminder for NAHS students about parking: If you are parking on the streets in Northampton, make sure not to park on the streets where you need parking permits from the borough. It is possible your vehicle will be ticketed if parked there.
