K-Kid Roundup: NHS Invite held
The Northampton cross country team hosted the Northampton Invitation this past weekend, an event that continues to grow and feature some of the state’s top runners.
For the K-Kid boys, Abel Veltri was the top finisher. The sophomore finished in 17:01.5 to take 36th.
Senior Ryder Ault was 86th with a 17:55.30.
Braeden Lower was 117th (18:33.8), Liam Galicki was 122nd (18:39.9), Nathan Feichtel was 165th (19:23.5), Bryson Grover was 178th (19:43.2) and Nathan Lopez was 182nd (19:49.70).
Penncrest’s Gavin Mogck was the top finisher with a time of 15:38.7. Souderton’s Aiden Maue was second in 15:57.7 while Parkland’s Liam McGuigan took third in 16:14.6. Souderton’s James Kuduk and Aidan Kearns rounded out the top-five with times of 16:15.2 and 16:15.3, respectively.
On the girls side, Liv Jusinski took 65th as Northampton’s highest finisher. Her time was 21:49.6. Olivia Horn was 102nd in 23:07.7. Other finishers for the girls were Rachel Makary 126th (24:03.8), Abby Hacker 144th (24:43.2), Nikita Yessen 153rd (24:55.7) and Olivia Kuhns in 171st (25:36.6).
Overall there was plenty of local flavor at the top of the girls results. Fresh off her win at the Lion Invite, Virginia Kraus, a freshman, took first for Moravian Academy. Her time was 17:55.0. Parkland’s Lana Hurwitz was second in 18:23.4 while Emmaus had the third and fourth place finishers in Madelyn McCartney, a freshman, in 18:30.9 and Payton Campbell, a sophomore, in 18:37.1.
Penncrest’s Ruby Schweim was fifth in 18:46.8.

In girls soccer action, Northampton tied Pleasant Valley 2-2.
The Bears had goals from Madison Fava with an assist from Aryn Stivala, while Stivala added the second goal on a helper from Mya Manigo.
NHS got two unassisted goals from Brielle Skoze and Danka Cuchran. The Kids fired 31 shots on goal in the tie to PV’s 18. Eight of those goals came in overtime alone.
PV opened the scoring right off the bat with a cross from Stivala Fava.
The Kids tied it a few minutes later before taking the lead. PV answered in the 77th minute when Stivala took a 50 yard punt from keeper Mya Manigo and beat the defense.
Both PV and the Kids had some very close shots and breakaways as both keepers came up big.

In tennis, the Kids fell to Nazareth 5-2.
Both the Kids wins came in doubles. At one, Rachel Zeitner and Leah Jenkins won 8-0 over Cassandra Barbounis and Ella Ecker.
At three doubles, Toni Bubier and Kaci Howe knocked off Ahlya Elmanzalawy and Naiya Mody 7-5, 6-4.

In golf, Northampton defeated Freedom 401-460 at the Woodstone Par 72.
Trent Moyer led the way with a 75 and Gavin Pychinka shot 78.
Madison Salter shot 81 and Michael Seidick had an 83 with Justin Edwards carding an 84.

The field hockey team beat Pleasant Valley 4-0 in a game completed after a weather delay.
Goals scored for Northampton were Brooke Saul with 2 and Mya Keppel and Kendall Iasiello each adding one.
Ella Steirer had an assist.

In volleyball, the Kids defeated Dieruff 25-2, 25-11, 25-9
Molly Hughes had 12 assists and Morgan Hughes had 15 digs.
Alyvia Schlegel recorded 10 digs and 6 aces as Morgan Chandler collected 9 kills. Liz Sheldon had 7 digs and 5 aces and Payton Reuber had 6 kills.

In boys soccer, Northampton defeated Pleasant Valley 2-0.
Northampton scored first with Jevin Fritz collecting a goal from Delali Tsome. Jackson Vajda scored the second goal on an assist from Julian Briody.
The Kids outshot the Bears 16-8.
Xander McDonald made 3 saves for NHS as did Ethan Schrampf. For Pleasant Valley, Mike Myers had 11 saves.
