Garden club to meet Sept. 12

The Parkland Garden Club will meet on Sept. 12 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.

Lehigh Gap Nature Center Director Chad Schwartz will present the program “From Superfund to Super Habitat.”

He will highlight the amazing transformation of a once barren polluted landscape to the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, a thriving ecological place of beauty and function.

He will discuss how this was achieved with the planting of native plants.

This site is located along the Lehigh River where the Appalachian Trail and the Delaware and Lehigh Rails to Trails converge.

Schwartz will also discuss the vibrant activities of the Nature Center which are dedicated to education, research and outdoor recreation.

Doors open 6:30 p.m. for socialization and refreshments. Program starts at 7 p.m.
