Press photo courtesy Girl Scout Troop 8825 Liberty HS senior and Girl Scout Troop 8825 member Anna Lazewski has completed her Gold Award after working closely with Historic Bethlehem. Lazewski said, “For my project I created educational, interactive trail content at Burnside Plantation, a historic site in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, focusing around colonial history and sustainability. This virtual content includes a self-guided tour and audio tour, art/poetry prompts, small quizzes, letterboxing (scavenger hunt), and more to educate the public about how our town's rich colonial history intermingles with living sustainably. My project covers 4 major topics including the history of Burnside Plantation, the power of the Monocacy Creek (creek on the plantation), the power of native plants and their role in colonial life, and what sustainability is today. There is a permanent sign affixed at the portion of the Monocacy Way trail at Burnside Plantation for visitors to access at any time. Currently, my educational content is in the process of being integrated into third grade curriculum throughout my school district.”
