Bear takes 26th at the Lion Invite
The Catasauqua cross country team competed in the Lion Invitation to open its season.
For the boys, Jacob Dove took the top spot for Catty finishing 73 with a time of 21:23.98.
Trevor Rigits was 117 in 24:28.88, Jaydon Reynolds was 128 in 28:09.26, Jonathan Rizzo was 129 in 28:17.85, Gavin Cunningham was 130 in 28:25.34, Mikhail Hartranft was 131 in 29:13.59 and Jack Brubaker was 132 in 29:13.59.
The race was won by Palisades’ Thomas Smigo with a time of 16:33.13, which was well ahead of the Tigers Matthew Santana, who was second in 17:01.03.
On the girls side, Alivia Bear took 26th for Catty with a time of 23:19.91. Ava Smith was 57 in 27:04.53, Madelyn Gonzalez was 84 in 30:56.51 and Caroline Rodriguez was 86 in 30:57.09.
Moravian Academy’s Virginia Kraus took the top spot in the girls race. She had a winning time of 18:37.45, which was well ahead of Abington Height’s Anna Pucilowski, who had a 19:23.26. Both runners are freshmen.

The Catty volleyball team dropped a couple of games over opening weekend.
They fell to Salem Christian: 25-17, 25-21, 25-10.
The team also lost to Executive 3-2, The scores were: 25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 16-25, 15-5.

The field hockey team lost a game to Palmerton, 8-1.
For the Bombers, Kira Hauser scored final four goals for her team after goals from Mikayla Pengelly, Skylar Kohler, Sydney Frantz and Clair Frank.
Catty’s goal came from Abigail Antipas, which was unassisted.
Moravian defeated Catty 8-0. Claire Martin (assist by Phoebe Shane), Megan Dadio scored twice (assist by Phoebe Shane), as did Grace Hylton, and Francisca Cour, Gia Gupta and Grayson Domzalski each scored one.
Catasauqua goalkeeper Sophia Becker made 30 saves.

The Catty boys soccer team won 5-0 over Notre Dame Tuesday.
For the Rough Riders, Mason Forstoffer scored two goals. Brendan Nye had a goal and added two assists in the victory.
Jaxon Berrier added a goal and an assist. Daniel Jones also had a goal for the Roughies.
