McNeill launches West Bethlehem outreach

State Rep. Jeanne McNeill is pleased to announce expanded weekly constituent outreach hours for residents of West Bethlehem starting Friday, Sept. 9.

A member of McNeill’s staff will be available on Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the DAR House, also known as the Rose Garden Log Cabin, 717 Eighth Ave. The only exception is Friday, Dec. 2 as the location is already booked that date for a holiday engagement.

Hanover Twp. carnival opens Sept. 7

The Hanover (Norco) Township Carnival opens Sept. 7 with $25 ride wrsitbands evey night.

Gates open at the Municipal Complex each night at 6 p.m.

The carnival runs to Sept. 19.

Festival of Bands Sept. 25

Keep your toes tapping during “A Pops Concert” Sept. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Northampton Area HS, where 85 musicians from the Municipal, Marine, Pioneer and Allentown bands will showcase their musical talents returning to stage after a two year hiatus during the pandemic. Everyone’s favorite tunes from Sammy Davis Jr., The Doors, Tina Turner, The Beatles, The Grease Musical and other legends will delight. The school is located at 1619 Laubach Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067 and offers convenient parking and handicap accessibility.

Liberty Bell Museum’s 60th anniversary Sept. 25

On Sept. 25, the Liberty Bell Museum in the historic Zion’s Church, 622 W. Hamilton St., Allentown, will celebrate its 60th anniversary.

The public celebration will be 2-4 p.m. in front of Zion’s Reformed UCC and the Liberty Bell Museum.

The program will feature public speakers and entertainment for all ages.

Dave Fry will provide a special musical offering.

Following the program, Liberty Bell Museum leadership invites visitors to visit the museum free of charge.

Parking is available on-street or at the community parking deck at 6th and Walnut streets.

LANTA adds Southside-Promenade Shop route

New additions to LANTA bus routes will be welcome news to students, shoppers and others this academic year, including those attending Penn State-Lehigh Valley, Lehigh University, and Northampton Community College’s Fowler Campus. The new Route 323 connects Southside Bethlehem to Promenade Shops and other destinations in Saucon Valley.

Route 323 operates Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and connects to LANTA’s new Enhanced Bus Service Green Line which offers frequent limited-stop service to Whitehall and Allentown from the new Southside Station at Bethlehem Parking Authority’s soon-to-open Polk Street Garage.

In addition to the Southside Station, the recently inaugurated EBS Green Line has four additional station stops in Southside including: Fahy Bridge South (2nd Street at Columbia and Adams Streets); Hayes and Third Streets; Greenway (Daily Avenue at the South Bethlehem Greenway); and Casino (under the Minsi Trail Bridge, next to the main entrance of Wind Creek Casino).

The new LANtaBus EBS system gives Southsiders rapid transit access to Downtown Bethlehem, Union Blvd., Coca-Cola Park, Downtown Allentown, Lehigh Valley Mall, and other destinations.
