Bach Choir of Bethlehem Artistic Director & Conductor Dr. Christopher Jackson will hold auditions for The Bach Choir of Bethlehem and The Bel Canto Youth Chorus, 4 - 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 and 10 a.m. - noon Sept. 3 at the Bach Choir office, 440 Heckewelder Place, Bethlehem.

Bach Choir auditions consist of each singer performing one or two songs or arias of contrasting nature (singer’s choice), some vocalization and sight-reading. An accompanist is provided.

High school vocalists are encouraged to audition for the Bach Choir Choral Scholars program.

New this season are Bach Choir Collegiate Choral Scholars. College students may audition for The Choir.

Rehearsals are at 7:30 p.m. Mondays, Fellowship Hall, First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, 2344 Center St., Bethlehem.

The 2022-23 Bach Choir season includes Christmas Concerts, December; Family Concert, February; Spring Concert, March, and 115th Bethlehem Bach Festival. May.

The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, which is in its 125th season, is the oldest American Bach Choir, and gave the first performances of Bach’s Mass in B Minor and the Christmas Oratorio in the country.

The Bel Canto Youth Chorus, founded in 1993, is celebrating its 30th anniversary season.

Auditions for all choirs (ages 8-17) of Bel Canto.

No music needs to be prepared in advance. Singers will be asked to introduce themselves, sing several scales, sing a familiar song like “Happy Birthday,” and complete several easy music challenges to assess level of musical ability.
