Emmaus High School names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Edward and Heidi and my siblings are Ivan, Vivien, Theodore and Veronica.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is physics, because it applies higher level problem solving and mathematics to real world situations.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I have received two gold medals and one silver medal for the National German Exam (levels 1 and 2 and level 4 respectively) and I am in the German Honor Society. I have been on the honor roll every marking period so far and have received the Academic Achievement Awards in Biology, German and Physics. I received the Extra Mile Award and Athlete of the Week in Track and was part of the 2022 4x800 team, where we placed second at districts and made the All-Area Track and Field team.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I run cross-country and track and I participate in Academic Team and Math League. I also play guitar and paint and during the summer I work for Souders Construction. Being involved in all these activities, I learned the importance of hard work, persistence and manageable goal setting and I also made amazing friendships that helped me through my high school journey.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge is mostly trying to manage my schedule, between school work, clubs and running, while still finding time to do things I enjoy with my family and friends.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. My goal is to graduate college with a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering and probably to run cross-country and/or track in college.

Q. Whom do you admire? Why?

A. The people whom I most admire are my fellow classmates and team members who might not be the most talented academically or athletically, but still work hard and give 100 percent every day. They inspire me because they achieve great things through pure determination and motivate me to do the same.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered as the person who would always be there to listen to other people’s problems and help them out.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Getting enough sleep is often overlooked in high school but is very important. Often it’s better to get a good rest than to cram for a test or rush through an assignment.
