Saturday child series at Ice House
The Loft Theater at the Ice House, hosting The Saturday’s Child Family Series and The Ice House Tonight Series, is now under the leadership of the Ice House Performing Arts Collaborative for cultural equity and the emerging artists of Bethlehem.
Fountain Hill Community Days Sept. 3
Fountain Hill’s St. Paul Lutheran Church is hosting Community Days Sept 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event features an ice cream truck on Hoffert Street where everyone can get one free ice cream per person. Firefighters will be on hand with the borough’s new fire truck. Activities include sidewalk chalk drawing, tricky trays and interacting with “pulpiteers” in St. Paul’s Fellowship Hall.

ServSafe course begins Sept. 1
The ServSafe Food Safety Manager course, conducted by Penn State Extension, will be held at the Penn State Extension Lehigh County office, 4184 Dorney Park Road., Allentown. The course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 1, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8. The exam will begin at 11 a.m., Sept. 8.
These in-person trainings, taught by certified ServSafe instructors, will help participants learn how to prevent contamination of food by properly receiving, storing, preparing, cooking, cooling and serving the food, as well as proper methods of sanitizing food service facilities.
After completing the course and passing the multiple-choice exam with a score of 70 percent or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate. This certification is good for five years.

LANTA adds Southside-Promenade Shop route
New additions to LANTA bus routes will be welcome news to students, shoppers and others this academic year, including those attending Penn State-Lehigh Valley, Lehigh University, and Northampton Community College’s Fowler Campus. The new Route 323 connects Southside Bethlehem to Promenade Shops and other destinations in Saucon Valley.
Route 323 operates Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and connects to LANTA’s new Enhanced Bus Service (EBS) Green Line, which offers frequent limited-stop service to Whitehall and Allentown from the new Southside Station at Bethlehem Parking Authority’s soon-to-open Polk Street Garage.
In addition to the Southside Station, the recently inaugurated EBS Green Line has four additional station stops in Southside, including: Fahy Bridge South (Second Street at Columbia and Adams streets); Hayes and Third streets; Greenway (Daly Avenue at the South Bethlehem Greenway); and Casino (under the Minsi Trail Bridge, next to the main entrance of Wind Creek Casino).
The new LANTABus EBS system gives Southsiders rapid transit access to downtown Bethlehem, Union Boulevard., Coca-Cola Park, downtown Allentown, Lehigh Valey Mall, and other destinations.
Hotel Bethlehem retains #1 spot
Thanks to strong community support, Historic Hotel Bethlehem won the USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice travel award for the second consecutive year.

This is the fourth consecutive year USA TODAY travel experts have nominated the iconic landmark, which maintained the #1 spot in the leaerboard throughout the voting period.
The community will be invited to celebrate the win at a special event next month. Details will be announced within the next few weeks.
