Gerald M. Farnsworth

Gerald M. “Gerry” Farnsworth, 77, of Schnecksville, died Aug. 17, 2022, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife, Susan J. (Lukman) Farnsworth, were married 36 years.

Born Oct. 26, 1944, in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Myles K. and Ellen S. (Schaffer) Farnsworth.

A 1962 graduate of Nesquehoning High School, he played football there for four years.

He was also a 1966 graduate of Susquehanna University, where he was a member of the Susquehanna University Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha, majored in mathematics and continued playing football for three seasons.

While at Susquehanna University, he served as the Student Council Men’s vice president in 1966.

He taught mathematics at Panther Valley High School from 1966-70 where he coached football and track.

From 1970-2002, he taught mathematics at Parkland High School where he was an assistant football coach for 15 years.

Earlier this year, he was honored as he was inducted into the Carbon County Area Sports Hall of Fame.

He was a member of F.&A.M. Lodge 440, Slatington, as a 32 degree Mason.

His hobbies included model trains, gardening and spending time with his family and his adopted basset hounds and bloodhounds over the years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Morgan N. Farnsworth of Lititz, and Taylor L. Farnsworth and her husband, Zachary D. Hutchins, of Philadelphia.

He predeceased by a sister, Carole F. Patton.

His service will be private, at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours.
