LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Shining bright in the night

PRESS PHOTOS BY DONNA GEWERTZ Making the pool shine bright are nighttime swimmers Pierre Botrs (left) and his brother Peter, of Whitehall Township, during a Glow in the Dark night swim, held Aug. 10 at Parkview Pool, Hokendauqua. Each young attendee received a glow stick upon entry. The free event, sponsored by Whitehall Township Recreation Department, doubled as a donation fundraiser for Joey Groller, a Whitehall High School junior who has recently been diagnosed with leukemia.
Bringing the community together for a good cause in support of Joey's fight against leukemia are, from left, Jami Henry, Whitehall Township aquatics director; Anne Csencsits, Joey's aunt; Maisey Hartman, lifeguard; Ava Demjan, lifeguard; and Tony Cocca, Whitehall Township recreation director.
The sun sets over Parkview Pool, but the fun continues.
Swimmers Kirah Gedroic and Ciena Santiago, of Whitehall Township, are happy to participate in the fundraiser for Joey.
Sofie Rose (left) and Kendall Bashore light up the evening by modeling their complimentary glow sticks, configured as necklaces and bracelets.
